Sloane Furniss received her BA in Biology from Amherst College and PhD in Biological Sciences in Public Health from Harvard University where she studied human papillomavirus in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. She has worked in academic and industry settings, contributing to translational research on glioblastoma multiforme, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, cancer systems biology, and HIV and bacterial diagnostics. Prior to joining the Hale Center, Sloane worked in the Cancer Genetics Department at DFCI where she was a co-investigator on the GENERATE Study, a study designed to provide remote genetic testing for family members of individuals with pancreatic cancer. To further pursue her interest in risk assessment and early detection of pancreatic cancer, Sloane joined the Hale Center in 2022 where she focuses on scientific writing.
